What are Constraints?

Constraints enable the RDBMS enforce the integrity of the database automatically, without needing you to create triggers, rule or defaults. 

Types of constraints: 
NOT NULL, 
CHECK, 
UNIQUE, 
PRIMARY KEY, 
FOREIGN KEY.
